Tannoura 2 miniatureTannoura Dance is the Egyptian version of The Whirling dervishes dance initiated by sufi poet El Rumi. The music is performed by a folk Takht ensemble using percussion and reed wind instruments. the multiple skirts worn by the dancers is very colorful in a typically Egyptian patchwork fashion. Thirty miniatures were created for this project to celebrate the Divine with joy. The moves are symbolic of the the sun, moon and stars twirling around each other.
